Thought for the Day
This is the last Circuit news of the Nantwich circuit. It is also my last Sunday working in the circuit after ten years. It has been a good time for Credwyn and me, living and ministering among the people of Nantwich – the salt of the earth. This week is also the Nantwich Show when we celebrate all that is good in country living, particularly cheese. I am reminded of Jesus turning water into wine, which is traditionally a good accompaniment to cheese. He did it at a wedding to stop the celebrations going flat and to ensure that the guests continued to have a good time. Wine was a symbol of all that was good in people's lives and in creation. It is also a symbol of the new covenant for the forgiveness of sins that Jesus makes with all who share in his body and blood in memory of him. Wine is also a symbol of new life, new beginnings that cannot happen without sometimes sad and painful endings. Whenever we share in the communion wine we are united with Christ and with everybody else who are part of the church – past, present and future – earthly and heavenly. This may be the parting of ways but we will always be united, so long as we remain part of the body of Christ. May God's blessing be with you now and forever. Rev'd Bryan and Credwyn Tolhurst.
Circuit News
As the 'Nantwich Circuit News' reaches its final edition, I would like to say a big 'thank-you' to all who have sustained it over the years. Many have submitted news and notices, someone in each church has been the weekly recipient responsible for local distribution, and various contributors have written 'thoughts for the day'. A particular word of thanks must go to Pauline Griffiths, Hazel Griffiths and Joe Ware. Pauline and Hazel between them have churned out thousands of copies over the years and, for a considerable time, Joe contributed nearly all the 'thoughts for the day'. As we move into the Cheshire South Circuit, new means of communication will doubtless present themselves. We wait to see what these will be. Meanwhile, thank-you all very much. Andrew.
Items for the Circuit News should reach Pauline Griffiths by 10.00 am on Thursdays. Email Pauline at circuitadmin@mac.com.
