£5k 1day

In early July this year, AMC is attempting to raise £5,000 in just one day for Macmillan Cancer Support. A range of fund-raising events has been organised to realise this sum. Dinner parties, suppers and barbecues are being held in local homes, coffee mornings have been organised in different neighbourhoods, a 5k and 10k sponsored 'move' (run, walk, cycle, swim) is taking place - with a number 'moving' in biblical fancy dress, two performances are being given of 'Sing-a-long the shows' - a musical spectacular that will entertain and involve - and there will also be an auction of promises. *

The 'one day' is from the evening of Friday 3 July to the evening of Saturday 4 July. The Church will be open on the Saturday from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm for anyone who wishes to make a donation. (Online donations can also be made at justgiving/5k1day.) On Sunday 5 July, a representative from Macmillan will attend the morning service to receive what has been raised.

* Promises received for auction include: a one-day emergency first-aid course, a day’s fishing tuition, a baking surprise each month for a year, a ‘tour’ of a beehive, a special quarter peal by St James bell-ringers, a round of golf for two at Market Drayton Golf Club, the preparation of a Will by Hibberts Solicitors, lunch for four at The Farmers Arms at Ravensmoor, a photo shoot with disc of photos and 10x8 print, cakes baked to your choice of design.
