Circuit and Audlem Welcome for Rev'd Jennifer Matthews
Nantwich Methodist Church was full to capacity on Friday 30th August at a service to welcome three new Ministers.
The Circuit Superintendent Rev'd Malcolm Lorimer presided and started the service by saying farewell to Pauline Griffiths who was retiring after seven years excellent service. Her work had been much appreciated. He then introduced her successor and several new supernumeraries.
The service continued with hymns and readings and then Chairman of the District, Peter Barber, gave a challenging address after which he introduced the three new Circuit Ministers( Rev'd Bill Anderson, Rev'd Jennifer Matthews and Rev'd Rob Weir) who were formally welcomed into the Circuit.
Jennifer told of her early life in a Christian family and how she eventually became a Methodist Minister. She went to University and obtained a degree but felt that her life as a Christian was not complete and went on to study to become a Methodist minister. She has now realised her dream and her first Ministry is here in Audlem.
The service ended with prayers. Refreshments were served afterwards.
On Sunday at Audlem Methodist Church, Senior Steward, Andrew Plows, introduced Jennifer to a large AMC congregation which included the YCMC children's group. She then proceeded to conduct her first holy communion service. We warmly welcome Jennifer and her family and look forward to her Ministry over the next few years
