The AMC stewards have decided to provide a chapel Christmas card this year, for all to sign instead of sending lots of individual ones, in the hope that it might also lead to donations either to Action for Children or your favourite charity instead.
Audlem’s Big Switch On is on Friday 28 November. At a recent stewards meeting it was felt that it was very sad that our Chapel isn’t involved so we have decided to do something very special in our Car Park for ALL to see – it is a first for us and indeed a first for Audlem – while this is happening we hope to serve homemade mince pies and non-alcoholic mulled wine PLEASE try to pop down to see what we are doing. If there is anyone who loves making mince pies that would be appreciated – please sign on the list in the hall.
St James are holding a Christmas Tree Festival in aid of a new heating system in the church. It takes place from Friday morning 28 November over the weekend until Monday evening 1st December. There will be 12 trees decorated by different people/organisations, including our young people, on the theme of Christmas carols. There is no charge for admission but donations will be welcome for home baked refreshments etc. There will also be a quiz sheet, again on the Christmas carol theme, available for an entry fee of £1.
Festive Coffee Morning at AMC on Saturday 6 December 10.30 – 12.30. There will be mulled fruit punch, hot chocolate, coffee and tea, with mince pies and other festive goodies. There will be the usual stalls and more, so come and browse these and the different offerings. Join us for a chat and browse with Christmas carols thrown in.
Have you an ‘Action for Children’ lantern collecting box? It is now time to have them emptied. Please bring them in to Fiona as soon as possible so that she can send the total to headquarters. However much or little, it all helps. If you haven’t a collecting box and wish to support this Methodist charity a donation in an envelope would be greatly appreciated. Your support continues to give children a safe and happy childhood..
Church zoom services – A message from Rev Alison. As you will know, the zoom services started during the pandemic as a way of maintaining fellowship and worship. It was well supported and blessed people throughout our communities and beyond. As time passed and life openend up, the zoom service was still important to many people who were not able to attend church.
In the last year or so however the numbers that this service support have dropped significantly. Added to this some changes in minister’s availability it became difficult to justify running a monthly live zoom service.
After prayer and consultation it has been decided that the zoom service in its current form will not run from the new year. There is still the zoom Carol service to look forward to on Sunday 21 December at 3pm and we still hope to run a zoom Service of Remembering each year.
